On March 4th I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Marianne and Scott. The wedding took place at St. Mary's church in Pylesville, MD, a lovely old church surrounded by countryside hills and farms. This was the first wedding I've shot and I was fortunate to be photographing such a wonderful couple. I planned on making it to the church early in order to look around, do some shots of the decorations as well as shoot some photos of the groom and groom's men before the ceremony.
Well, sometimes forces outside your control take over and things happen. I was unfortunate enough to be rear ended by a teenage girl, who wasn't paying attention (texting I'm sure), right as I was turning onto the road the church was located on (in fact, I could see the church where I was hit). My car was totaled, but luckily I still made it to the wedding with camera equipment intact! I cannot stress how lucky I was to be working with such a wonderfully kind bride. She was more concerned about me and my safety than she was about her wedding photos, and for that I am quite grateful. I still managed to make it there a half hour early, a bit frazzled, flustered and sore, but I made it! Moral of the story, always keep a smile on your face (things could have been far worse), even in the face of bad circumstances. And hey, not only did I get my first accident out of the way I got my first wedding out of the way in the same day! (see, look at that, a bright side to everything)
